MICHAEL HERMESH'S DRAWINGS
Michael Hermesh's visibility and success as an artist has been phenomenal since he has returned full time to his artistic roots 11 years ago. His larger figurative plaster works have been commanding ever-higher prices and are now well into the five figures range; his smaller ceramics and bronzes are doing equally well. He intends markedly improve on this.
As a full time artist Michael Hermesh routinely does figurative drawings that explore the inner life of his sculpture. These drawings are his words and from them come his larger statements.
There is a tradition of successful artists selling what are minor works for very reasonable prices and those works later becoming quite significant. Refer to Tony Only, Norval Morrisseau, Jean-Michel Basquiat just to begin what is decidedly a very long list.
Michael Hermesh feels that what is important to the artist in these sales is the outward flow of their work in great numbers into the real world. Essentially Michael Hermesh feels he is having an extended conversation with the public at large. To maintain and expand the communication is vital to Michael Hermesh's growth as an artist, as he feels it was a major factor in the growth and success of so many others.
